Jim & Sharon Weinel

Jim Weinel was born in Cannon Falls, Minnesota in 1933 and raised in Randolph. The son of Daniel & Gladys (Holmes) Weinel. Daniel relocated first to Cannon Falls and then to Hampton from his boyhood home in Kentucky. Gladys was born and raised in Cannon Falls. Daniel was a bridge carpenter for the railroad. Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1956 with a degree in Civil Engineering and married Sharon. After his service in the US Army, they settled down in Minnesota, where they raised their three children. Jim worked in aerospace engineering for five years, when he made the decision to start his own company. With start-up cash of only $150, Jim and Sharon rented 400 square feet of space in a Cannon Falls garage and formed Gemini, Inc., now one of the largest sign companies in the world. Sharon, who was always right by his side passed away on February 8, 2022 after 66 years of marriage. Jim and Sharon went everywhere together; she was his business partner as well as his heart. Philanthropy has always been a big part of their professional and personal lives. We are so grateful for their large donation that has made the construction of the new building possible.

Castle Rock Bank The Nicolai Family

The Spirit of Community Pride has kept the Castle Rock Bank going strong for over 100 years. Firmly rooted in the community, the original owners held the belief that "A bank shall operate for the benefit of the community first, last and always" Even as far back as 1916, every director and stockholder of the Bank has a local address.

Dan & LaVonne Nicolai, have owned the Bank since 1962, and they carried forward this priority, encouraging a strong work ethic with a history of volunteerism that has supported civic organization and founded many community traditions that remain active today. Dan grew up on a farm in Hampton, the son of John Peter & Appolonia Haan Nicolai. He married LaVonne Stotesbery at St. Mathias church in 1961. LaVonne shared Dan's love for the community and activism. Together they have received many awards and recognitions for the numerous contributions that they made. Their two sons and their families all volunteer in communities that the Castle Rock Bank serves.

Castle Rock Bank has partnered with RAHS on many occasions including our annual fundraiser, Randolph Railroad Days.
